Let’s Futsall
was my final project with the UK Press Association in the fall of 2016. With the task of creating a feature website over a single topic,
I chose to give an immersive but reader-friendly look into the world of an oft-forgotten sport.
Through video, CMS tweaking and embedded content, I aimed to breath a bit of new life into the sport.
Why I chose Futsal
Having played the sport at a college level throughout the UK, I had a real investment in the topic. I quickly learned however, that while everyone under the sun had heard of football (or soccer), very few people had heard of Futsal—and that bothered me me. I aimed to come up with the best possible way to introduce a newcomer to the sport by focussing on three primary aspects.
How I Showcased it
By combining traditional journalism and modern multimedia, my aim was to present the sport through the use of engaging content. Breaking up big walls of text with embedded content, videos and infographics such as slideshows as well as presenting it with as much colour and flair as was needed.
